Hi there!

I'm Katie Somers, PGA — a passionate female golf instructor serving the greater Treasure Valley.

​

Since earning my PGA membership in May 2018, I've dedicated myself to helping golfers of all ages and abilities fall in love with the game. With 11 seasons of teaching experience, I currently serve as Director of Instruction at River Birch Golf Course in Star, ID.

​

I'm proud to be a Titleist Staff Member and a member of the Titleist Golf Clubs Women's Strategy Panel, where I help shape equipment and programs that empower women in golf.

Whether you're just starting out, rebuilding confidence after a break, or fine-tuning your game for the next level, I'm genuinely excited to work with you!

​

After joining the PGA in 2015, I completed the program in under two years and served as the only female Head Golf Professional across southern Idaho, Montana, and parts of Wyoming for nearly three years. 

​

A Seattle native, I started golf at age 7 with my dad and became one of Washington’s top junior recruits, competing in events like Junior Worlds and The Big I. I played four years at Boise State University and graduated with a Communications degree in 2012.

​

My passion for junior golf took off after the P.J. Boatwright Internship with the Idaho Golf Association. For 11 seasons, I’ve taught 200+ kids each summer, built the flagship Boomers program, and created clinics, camps, and mentoring that make golf fun and lifelong.

​

I’ve also taught 500+ students overall and earned multiple awards, including the 2023 & 2025 Rocky Mountain Section PGA Youth Player Development Award, Assistant Golf Professional of the Year (2017), and Women’s Player of the Year (2018–2025). I serve on the Idaho Junior Golf Foundation board and direct the Dropping Junior Championship at RedHawk.

In my free time, I golf with my husband Ben (a fellow PGA member), work out, ski, and hang out with our family—including his twin girls and our three dogs (black Lab, Yorkie Poo, and yellow Lab puppy).
